Berry Bros & Rudd have occupied their site at the bottom of St James Street since 1698, but needed more space so commissioned Mowat & Co to design a new shop in what was previously an office just around the corner on Pall Mall.
We were asked to design the mechanical and electrical systems for the project. A challenging brief required that the main shop should be kept at below 18°C, and the fine wine area at 12°C – temperatures normally found in kitchen cold rooms, not shops!
We specified high levels of insulation to all internal and external walls of the shop, and modified and re-used the existing office cooling system as far as possible to save cost.
Once completed, thermographic imaging was used to check that the system was operating correctly.
We deliver award-winning coordinated building services engineering solutions: cost effective, user friendly, energy efficient, and always conscious of the architectural objectives.
